Research & Development
In oil and gas business sector upstream involves the exploration and production of hydrocarbons. Geological maps, geophysical surveys, and already acquired available data is used to locate specific areas where potential minerals are likely to be found. This whole process is commonly Known as ‘Exploration.’
After confirming the presence of hydrocarbons, the reserves are economically evaluated, and then actual drilling process starts that bring crude oil and natural gas to the surface and this is referred as ‘Production’.
It includes the transportation and storage phase of crude oil and natural gas. Crude oil is transported to refineries for purification and extraction of various types of fuels using tank trucks, rail tank cars and transcontinental tankers and infrastructure like pipelines are used for the distribution of natural gas.
This is the final stage of oil and natural gas industry where the transported and stored crude is converted into thousands of finished products of every day use specially fuels like gasoline, diesel, kerosene, jet fuels, heating oils and asphalt for building roads.
Some long-chain hydrocarbons are also found in both oil and natural gas which are used to make by-products like synthetic rubbers, fertilizers, preservatives, containers, and plastics.
